MEET AMANDA
So you’ve been hearing a lot from this ‘Amanda’ character…
But who the heck is she???
Well hi, it’s me Amanda, writing to you from my desk in my home on a hill beside a lake next to the ocean. Yes, I can see the sunrise over the pacific ocean from my bed.
But what do you need to know about me? I mean besides the fact that I like to refer to myself in the third person?
To be honest, bringing our workshops to the online universe has actually taught me a lot about myself. If not a single person joins the workshop, I think I could still count it a success because of how much I have learnt (please do the workshop).
Hold on a minute there’s a cockatoo in the garden, I’m just going to go say a quick hello.
Ok, I’m back. What was I saying?
Oh yes…I was telling you about Amanda Jones.
I guess I could tell you that she grew up and still lives in Sydney, but half her family (and her heart) is in Bellingham, Washington.
I could tell you that she studied dance and fashion styling before becoming a film maker.
I could tell you that she’s married to Kristian Jones, for 8 years and counting. It’s going well so far.
I could tell you that she loves working with a team, especially when she’s the boss…and she’s had interns years before she technically started a biz. Interns who she trained as freelancers and film makers and are still part of the team 7 years later.
That she is the director of One Minute Film and the creator of Make + Shoot for Brands.
OK but what do you really want to know about ME? (That you wouldn’t read on my resume)
Most things about me are a little bit opposite…
I love being the life of the party, but I’m nick named ‘two-sips Jones’ because I will sit on a glass of wine for a whole night.
I love travelling to really far places but I could easily stay at home for days in a row and be fine (and no, that weirdly didn’t make social distancing easier…I wrote about that here)
My emotions are an open book, but I will whisper my password in case anyone hears.
Most of my wardrobe is either white, black or somewhere on the brown scale…and it’s mostly made out of linen - but there’s always a garment or two that’s wildly coloured or patterned, just in case.
I make films professionally, so I like to keep some creative things just for me…lots of writing, sometimes painting and occasionally making clothes.
I love cooking from scratch as much as possible…I’m not terribly good at it, but I have nailed homemade tortillas.
My friends are my life, I would do anything for them.
I honestly believe EVERYONE should live their dreams, everyday. When you do, we all win.
So that might be more than you ever wanted to know about me, but at least now I can’t be accused of being mysterious!
PS — here’s the cockatoos, in case you didn’t believe me.
